Property for sale in southern Spain - Grupo Inland Andalucia - Your spanish Inland Property Specialist

OCTOBER 2007

Hi,

October already!! Where has the time gone???

For Grupo Inland Andalucia, September saw its busiest month ever! With clients preferring the nice, relaxing way of village life, living away from the coast but within easy access to it.

Our “New Builds” in Aguadulce, Sierra de Yeguas and Fuente de Piedra are proving very popular with those of you looking either for an investment property or for permanent living in one of these beautiful towns.

We had friends and family galore throughout September and have travelled all over Andalucia. Driving back one evening, watching the sun setting over the mountains, we decided that we are blessed to be living in such a beautiful country.

Thinking we would need a bit of a rest, I booked us in for a spa weekend in an ultra chic hotel in Estepona. So having been pampered, relaxed and well fed, I am ready to book your flights to come and join us. Let us take all the stress away from you and find you a perfect place in Spain!

See you all soon,

Maria

Codoba-Antequera dual carriageway

By the end of the year there will only be 24 kilometers left to go of the Cordoba-Antequera dual carriageway project and the Encinas Reales bypass will bring an end to hold-ups through the village.

The last 24 kilometers should be finished by March, which is the stretch between Encinas Reales and Antequera. Delays have been caused by problems with the stability of the terrain and the need for some changes to be made. However, once finished the journey by road from Malaga to Cordoba will be cut to an hour and a half, compared to the two and a half hours it used to take.

New team strip for Sierra de Yeguas!

The members of Sierra de Yeguas football team are now looking resplendent in their new team strip, compliments of Grupo Inland Andalucia, their sponsors. Designed by Yolanda, our graphic designer, they were presented recently to the players. An extra strip was given as a surprise to Graham, Grupo Inland Managing Director……with the number 23 and his name.

All the best to the lads during this and future football seasons.

The town has lots of amenities, banks, schools, shops and a health centre. There are some super walks around the Sierra de los Caballos and many places of interest in and around the town; Peñuela and La Herriza villas and the baths at La Haza de Estepa. Fuente de Piedra and the flamingo lake are just a short drive away.

La Granada

No, not the great City, but the humble pomegranate, known as la Granada in Spain. It was first cultivated in the Middle East, then spreading to China and Africa and eventually Spain. It was after this fruit that the City of Granada was named. When Queen Isabela and King Ferdinand conquered the last stronghold of the Moors in Granada in 1492, the pomegranate was added to their coat of arms. It was also on the coat of arms of their daughter, Catherine of Aragón (King Henry VIIIs first wife). It now grows profusely throughout southern Spain and are just about ready for harvesting.

The pomegranate is a symbol of fertility, birth and eternal life, owing to its abundance of seeds. It also represents unity, illustrated by the many seeds bound together in a single skin. Increasingly popular now for its healthy natural juice, the grenadine syrup has always been a popular in cocktails for both its flavour and its deep red colouring. Our Sales Director, Trevor, insists it’s an essential addition when making a “Tequila Sunrise”!

El Dia de los Muertos, or Halloween

Halloween in Spain is a joyous and happy holiday……..a time when you remember friends and family who have died. The celebrations start on the evening of 31st October and actually last until 2nd November when special Requiem masses are held. 1st November is a public holiday and this is the day when families takes flowers and small lanterns to their family graves. Its not sad, far from it….its a celebration of past lives.

And don’t forget…………

The clocks go back on 28th October.
