NOVEMBER 2007

Hi,

Greetings to you all from sunny Spain!

It´s November and the temperatures are peaking at around 30 degrees. We are just coming into autumn, meaning crisp mornings, beautiful days and cosy evenings. All the grapes and sunflowers have been picked but the olives carry on through until May.

On the 30th of October, I joined over 18,000 other customers standing in the queue for the Grand Opening of the new Ikea store in Malaga. A great place to accessorise your new home in Spain at a reasonable price, particularly if you are intending to purchase one of our Invest 2 Let properties. See below for further information…..

As we were collecting friends from the airport on Sunday, we decided to spend some time down on the coast. We headed for Benalmadena Marina, strolled along the prom and then sat outside one of the many cafes, watching the world go by.

Come and enjoy the warmth of the sun and take advantage of our viewing trip offer – for only £250.00 (per couple) you can enjoy a 4 day/3 night inspection tour, being shown around the areas we cover and your chosen properties . We will arrange your flights, accommodation and airport transfers. Before your arrival we will discuss your needs at length to ensure that the type of property you are looking for is in fact what you are going to view.

Looking forward to seeing you all.

Maria

A Spanish toast to a long life

The health of the Spanish people is among the best in Europe according to a new study by the Academy of Healthy Ageing. The quality of life and the fantastic Mediterranean diet have led to a life expectancy of 70 years for men and 75.3 for women. Unfortunately the low birth rate coupled with the long life expectancy will make Spain one of the countries with the oldest population in the world.

Invest2Let

Our Invest2Let plan on our new builds and selected resale properties is simple. It offers a one-year rental guarantee equal to the monthly mortgage repayments, allowing investors to purchase a property now without any mortage repayments for 12 months.

By taking advantage of the Invest2Let plan, investors are able to get into the Spanish market now, benefit from current property prices and realize a potentially subsantial return on their investment - all without making mortgage repayments for one full year.

If you would like further information about the plan or details of the properties included, please get in touch either by e-mail or on our freephone number. Details of both are given at the end of the newsletter.

New prehistoric remains near the new Cordoba/Antequera motorway

The remains of a prehistoric settlement covering an area of 180,000 m² have been uncovered during work on he A-45 motorway between Cordoba and Antequera. 4,000m² have already been excavated and includes 52 underground structures which were part of the circular dwellings, farming tools and ram and deer antlers. The site, which is 9 kilometers from Antequera, is in an area known as Los Silillos and is the second find to be unearthed during construction work on the new motorway after the discovery in August last year of a second century Roman cemetery 2 kilometres away between Benameji and Antequera.

“High-speed duck” in time for Christmas

The Talgo S-102 engine has been chosen by RENFE (the Spanish railway company) to pull the new AVE high speed trains which will be running between Malaga and Madrid from 23rd December 2007.

The trains, made by Talgo-Bombardier (a Spanish/Canadian combination), are known as “el Pato” or “the duck” because of their shape and can reach speeds of 330km/hour with the capacity to carry 316 passengers. The journey from Malaga to Madrid will take around 2.5 hours and will cost about 70 euros per journey.

…………..and speaking of Christmas, there are only 47 days left. The shops here are just starting to get festive and the popular Spanish Christmas sweets are on the shelves, but as presents in Spain come with the Three Kings on 6th January, we have a little longer to shop.

Development Minister says yes to flights from Antequera

Magdalena Alvarez, the Development Minister, has publicly given the support of herself and her department to the private airport project in Antequera. The project could become a reality in 2010 with one runway dealing with 4,000 flight arrivals and departures in the first year. After 10 years it is expected that this figure will rise to 15,000.

In and around the Spanish towns and villages………………

Lantejuela

The typically Spanish town of Lantejuela is located in the province of south east Seville, 76km from the capital and covers an area of 18km². Its people are known as the Lantejolense and at the present time there are approx 3,700 inhabitants.

There are two differing legends on the origin of the name. The first version is that the name derives from the nickname given to a rich landowner in the area (Tio Lantejas or Uncle Lentils). The second version dates from finding gold nuggets buried in the ground which were removed from the end of a plow, the pasture becoming known afterwards as Lantejuela. Lentils, or lantejas in Spanish, are a very popular and staple ingredient of the Spanish diet. The town has all the usual amenities for everyday living, including banks, mini-markets, schools etc.

About 3 km from the town on your approach using the A351 from Osuna, you will see on the left-hand side the Laguna de la Lantejuela which covers an area of 956 hectares. This is part of the Lantejuela Natural Reserve which also comprises the Laguna de Calderón, a few kilometres south towards Osuna. The lakes have many water birds including mallards, gadwalls, wigeons, shovelers and red-crested pochards. Due to the hot summers and the possibility of drought, the lakes are best visited at other times of the year.

We have some super properties in Lantejuela if you are interested in this lovely part of Andalucia. TH1040 is a great value-for-money townhouse, plenty of outside space, big 161m² build, garage, 3 bedrooms, all for 134.900 euros. Click for further details
